During PROVADA, VORM and NEPROM discuss digital chain integration and driving value. The central question is how parties in construction and area development can collaborate in a more transparent and objectively testable way based on relevant objectives and relevant values.
By translating objectives into milestones, performance indicators and value metrics, digital building models, BIM models, digital twins, whether or not parametrically and using artificial intelligence, can increasingly be used to drive value. Not as a technology for the sake of technology, but as a means to make better decisions.
NEPROM has, together with AEDES, aligned on their primary information needs. This is how developers use a MiniBIM model to respond to a housing association’s dream portfolio. We are now seeing the same happening with municipalities and area developers. They are driving value with a 3D model that provides answers for land use budgeting, the GEX. This is called the MiniGIM model. In turn, the MiniGIM model provides answers for city information, which has since been named MiniSIM.
We can link this digital chain integration with uniform shared planning. This is how you arrive at digitally parallel planning. During the session, we want to discuss with a housing association, a real estate investor, possibly a municipality and an architect or urban planner how far we truly are with these standards.
At the same time, this shows how complex it remains to organise transparent decision-making despite the fact that the technology is available. Digitalisation has advanced strongly, but transparency across the chain often proves attractive only as long as it suits the parties involved. Yet if we want to provide serious answers to societal challenges such as staff shortages, the housing shortage, scarcity of materials, sustainability and social impact, we have no alternative but to collaborate fully transparently based on a single source of truth.
