The Netherlands has more than 847,000 stairwell flat apartment blocks, and they are technically and organisationally difficult to make more sustainable. To speed up this process, seven housing associations from Sociale Verhuurders Haaglanden will build a one-of-a-kind stairwell flat apartment block from the 1950s and 1960s at The Green Village, where, together with actual residents, they will test innovative solutions and then apply them in their own stairwell flat apartment blocks. In this way, we make the business case for a successful renovation of the stairwell flat apartment block feasible, and we raise the bar as high as possible.
On the way to a Paris-Proof apartment block stairwell flat by 2030!

In this session, we will discuss with housing associations and construction parties what makes stairwell flats so complicated to renovate. Together with Den Haag Zuidwest, we look at the complexity of the energy transition for the existing housing stock, and Professor Andy van den Dobbelsteen explains why innovations are urgently needed to make this enormous challenge a reality.

There is also attention for innovations that are tested at The Green Village, including the biobased renovation facade of VORM.

Everyone is welcome to drop in to this session.

Do you want to know more about these innovations? At the Innovation Café, you can speak to experts on all trade fair days about the innovations and developments in projects and Innovation Labs.
