The Netherlands faces a major challenge. In the peat-clay regions, ground subsidence, climate change and a growing housing shortage are creating ever greater problems. Hundreds of thousands of homes are at risk of foundation damage, while infrastructure and public space are also under pressure. At the same time, more than one million homes must be built in the coming years — including in vulnerable polder areas.
During Heel Holland Zakt, developers, public authorities, financial institutions and innovators will come together to discuss the question: how do we build and renovate faster, smarter and future-proof?
At the table, experts will share insights from major area development projects in the polder, including developments in Gemeente Zuidplas, as well as practical experience with innovations being tested at The Green Village. Think of solutions such as foam glass, climate-adaptive water retention, green parking facilities and innovative foundation concepts that contribute to a sustainable and climate-resilient living environment.
The session offers space for discussion, practical examples and collaboration between public and private parties around the urgent issues of building on soft subsoil.
Everyone can drop in freely to this session.
