Smart housing solutions make the existing housing stock available again

The pressure on the housing market calls for new choices and smarter solutions. In this session, we discuss alternatives to renting rooms, suitable housing for labour migrants and other temporary target groups, and the role of municipalities in actively organising space. How can existing homes become available again for first-time buyers and people urgently seeking housing?

Wim Reedijk (Expertisecentrum Flexwonen) shows what role flex housing and other smart housing solutions can play in unlocking the existing housing stock. Bart Verlegh (Bluehub) shares the first insights from new research by peil.nl into room renting and its impact on municipalities. Peter Smit from the VNG brings the municipal and policy perspective: what challenges municipalities face in practice and what is needed to move from debate to implementation? The moderator is Paul ’t Lam.
