Thijs Konijnendijk, MSc. - Director Research & Data Intelligence at Capital Value. The rental housing market is shrinking due to sell-offs, but Dutch investors are investing heavily in new build. What can we expect from, and what can we improve regarding, the investment climate in the residential investment market? We will conduct a trend analysis of investments in the Dutch rental housing market and work together to find an answer to the question: how can this market be made more attractive for Dutch and international investors? We need them all to keep the housing stock at an adequate level and to achieve housing construction targets.

The fiscal threshold for foreign pension funds and insurers to invest in the Dutch housing market must be significantly lowered. That is the view of Mark Siezen, CEO of asset manager Bouwinvest. 'Foreign capital is absolutely essential to meet the enormous housing construction challenge. That requires a stable housing policy and fiscal climate. I am hopeful: the new minister recognises this and will act on it.'
