The timber construction game at PROVADA

Published: 28 Apr 2025
The timber construction game at PROVADA

The timber construction game is a hands-on challenge to accelerate the transition to timber construction. This game is being developed by The 2B Collective, in collaboration with Gideons Tribe, MRA, and many other timber construction experts, funded by Built by Nature. The aim of the game is to get early adopters and the (early) majority in the construction sector on board with the move towards large-scale timber construction! The timber construction game is being created in a digital learning and activation platform and aims to remove barriers, increase the scope for action, and expand your timber construction network! During a four-week competition, we inspire and activate organizations to accelerate the timber construction transition together!

National competition

On September 12, a major national competition will start, in which any organization can register with one or more multidisciplinary teams! This will be followed by four weeks of gaming to put yourself in the saddle to accelerate timber construction within your organization. In principle, any organization in the construction and real estate sector can participate. From clients who want to do something with timber construction to consultants and the construction companies that realize the projects. Specific attention will be paid to the challenges and issues faced by municipalities, housing associations, and developers. Participation with a team is free of charge, thanks to funding from Built by Nature!

Wood construction game ‘teaser’ for PROVADA

We want to raise awareness of this competition at PROVADA. And we want to do this in a fun way! Namely with a teaser game! This will also tie in with the (wood construction) experience of the exhibitors at PROVADA! Are you an exhibitor who wants to share knowledge about wood construction? Then register before May 12 and become part of the wood construction safari. You can register via info@the2bcollective.com

During this safari, participants take photos at various stands and lectures to record their conversations and visits. This encourages active networking and introductions to innovative parties in the sector. Visitors can create an account on our gamified learning platform on the spot and get started right away with a special Provada challenge! We will make a new challenge available every day. It starts with a quiz question about timber construction, after which you go on a safari past various stands and activities that promote timber construction at the fair.

Sign up for the teaser game at www.teaser.houtbouwgame.nl/enroll. We will start the challenges during PROVADA, but you can already create your account now.

We are still looking for interesting stops at stands.

These “stops” are interesting stories/lectures/projects/knowledge and experiences at your stands related to large-scale timber construction. These can become a task in the game, creating extra traction for your stand! And hopefully, your organization will also participate in the national timber construction game on September 12!

Background information The 2B Collective

The 2B Collective offers an innovative gamified learning platform that focuses on accelerating sustainable transitions through education and activation. Our goal is to inspire and activate people and organizations to think and act more sustainably in their work. Our learning and activation method has been developed in collaboration with behavioral scientists and offers a unique approach to stimulating sustainable behavioral change. The platform combines hands-on actions in the workplace with an online environment where participants can learn, experiment, and make mistakes. This approach ensures that the knowledge gained is truly retained and leads to lasting impact. We have already developed several successful programs that contribute to various sustainable goals of organizations. From an energy-saving game and a circular construction game to promoting sustainable construction within your organization and diversity and inclusion. Our platform is not only a learning environment, but also an activation hub that challenges people to immediately start working with sustainable solutions in their own work.

Organizations can already express their interest in participating in the timber construction game via www.houtbouwgame.nl.

Foreign capital needed to meet housing construction targets

The fiscal threshold for foreign pension funds and insurers to invest in the Dutch housing market must be significantly lowered. That is the view of Mark Siezen, CEO of asset manager Bouwinvest. 'Foreign capital is absolutely essential to meet the enormous housing construction challenge. That requires a stable housing policy and fiscal climate. I am hopeful: the new minister recognises this and will act on it.'
