Nowhere in the Netherlands are as many homes being built as in Utrecht. Over the past twenty years, an average of around 3,000 homes have been added each year, and the city has grown by roughly 2% per year. At the same time, growth was not the highest priority; the key question was how Utrecht can remain a healthy, liveable and future-proof city for all its residents.

How is Utrecht doing today? Can the city keep up its high construction pace? And will the city really become healthier too? And what choices lie ahead for the new city administration?

During the DNU real estate debate on 9 June, market parties, home seekers and representatives of the municipality of Utrecht will discuss these questions together. We will look back at how the city developed over the past year and, above all, look ahead: at trends, construction and development plans, opportunities and risks for the period to come.

After an introduction by Mathijs Lammers, advisor on Spatial Strategy at the municipality of Utrecht, a conversation chaired by Erwin Noorda (Trebbe), member of the agenda committee of Development Network Utrecht and chair of the Utrecht Building Society, will take place with:

  • Harm Janssen (BPD)
  • Robbert van Dijk (ASR)
  • Charlotte Buijtelaar (Platform Woonzoekers)
  • Anemoon van Dijk (Woonin)
