Public-private collaboration (PPC) is making a clear comeback. The joint approach of governments and private parties in area development had a period of being less in the spotlight, but is now returning as an answer to the enormous spatial challenges facing the Netherlands. What is making PPC attractive again? What lessons have earlier projects taught us? And how do we give this form of collaboration a new interpretation that fits the complexity of today?

The rules of the game have changed. Where PPC used to revolve around tightly drawn contracts and fixed role allocation, flexibility, trust and a shared long-term vision now take centre stage. Theo Stauttener (Stadkwadraat) opens with a practical perspective, followed by a debate in which Debbie Ginter (gemeente Rotterdam), Rachel van Houwelingen (Ministerie van BZK | VRO) and Patrick Joosen (BPD) share their views on what PPC needs to succeed.

How do public and private parties bridge differences in interests and pace? Where are the boundaries of collaboration? And what conditions must be in place before you even sit down at the table? PROVADA offers the ideal setting to discuss this with the people who put PPC into practice every day.
