During this session, we’ll take you through the story of Amber House, an important part of the Amsteloever development at Amstel Station in Amsterdam.

Amber House is the more human and accessible component within Amber Amsterdam: a residential building where affordability, sustainability and community come together. The building is specifically aimed at the mid-market segment and offers space for a new generation of urban residents who consciously choose both quality and affordability.

What makes Amber House special is its ambition to apply timber construction and circular principles at scale. As a result, not only is the CO₂ impact reduced, but a warmer, more natural living environment is created. The building shows that sustainable innovation is not only technical, but also tangible in residents’ everyday experience.

In addition, collectivity is central: through shared spaces, green outdoor areas and a strong social concept, Amber House helps build a close-knit community. It’s a place where meeting each other is second nature, and where living means more than just having a home.

With Amber House, we explore how we can still make room for the human scale, affordability and sustainability all at once in inner-city, high-density locations. An inspiring case on how mid-rent can grow into a driver of an inclusive city.
