During this session, we will take you through the story of Horizons Amsterdam – a forward-thinking residential concept in the Sluisbuurt that sets a new benchmark for sustainable and future-proof living.

Horizons shows that living and nature do not have to burden each other, but can instead strengthen one another.

The building combines, among other things, owner-occupied and rental apartments with shared facilities, green roofs, inner courtyards and collective (green) spaces. The result is a place where sustainability is not only technical, but also social: focused on bringing people together, health and a sense of belonging between residents.

Located in the Sluisbuurt, a new urban district on the IJ, Horizons brings together the best of two worlds: the energy of the city and the tranquillity of a green, car-light living environment. Here, a residential setting is created that looks beyond today and makes room for the generations that will follow.

In this presentation, we share how Horizons came about, which innovations have been applied and what this means for the future of area development. An inspiring story about building with nature as the guiding principle – and about how we can keep raising the bar for sustainable living.
