With the BREEAM-NL In-Use Buildings guideline, Vesteda has re-certified its full residential portfolio of 27,500 homes. Three years ago, the first certification took place as a baseline assessment; with this re-certification, Vesteda still ranks among the largest BREEAM-certified residential portfolios in the world.

In this session, Stephan de Bie (Vesteda), Roger Toussaint (Longevity Partners) and Rudy van der Helm (DGBC) will take you through this unique multi-year process. They show that certification is not a one-off exercise, but a learning process that delivers increasing value over time. By certifying the portfolio for the second time, new insights emerge: what Vesteda has learned about the performance and development potential of its real estate, and what Longevity has learned about organising and delivering certification at this scale.

The baseline assessment formed the starting point three years ago. The re-certification shows how the insights from that first round have been used to steer more effectively on themes such as energy, accessibility, material use and biodiversity — and how certification can help to accelerate sustainability in practice.

An inspiring practical case on how to measure, compare and learn at scale, and on how re-certification can be a key driver for accelerating the sustainability of existing residential portfolios.
