How can we build faster, more affordable and more sustainable—without compromising on quality, living comfort or connection with the neighbourhood?

On Tuesday 9 June, we will take you along the journey behind LandJuweel in Amstelveen. Here, VORM is developing a future-facing residential project with 160 homes in circular, modular timber construction. The project shows that affordability and sustainability do not have to be at odds, but can in fact reinforce each other. LandJuweel provides an answer to a question that many municipalities are asking: how do you build future-proof without losing sight of the mid-market?

The fact that LandJuweel is built in timber is not a random choice. VORM is developing the project together with Timberfy, the new timber construction business within the holding. The homes are built using intelligent 3D modules made from LVL timber—largely pre-prepared in the factory and efficiently assembled on site. This results in a shorter construction period, less construction traffic, less waste and consistent quality. In addition to timber construction, use is made of detachable connections, circular concrete and energy generation via both roofs and façades. The integrated PV panels form part of the design, meaning the buildings not only perform sustainably, but also remain architecturally attractive. The result: residential buildings that generate more energy than residents use.

During this session, we discuss how LandJuweel came about: from tender and design choices to collaboration across the supply chain and execution on the construction site. We address questions such as: why is modular timber construction a building system for the future? What does energy-positive building demand from design, engineering and planning? And how can government, market parties and partners work together to accelerate residential development?

An inspiring session for everyone working on future-proof area development, circular construction and the housing challenge of tomorrow.
