Otto Schepers

Otto is an engineer with a passion for digitalisation. With his civil engineering background, he has been active for many years in engineering projects involving municipal, regional and national dry infrastructure. From initial research and planning through to preparation for realisation. His passion for digitalisation and collaboration has always led him to come up with new solutions that make the work more enjoyable and make collaboration across the chain easier and more effective. He is now applying this experience much more broadly in his work towards the digitalisation of the design, construction and technical sector.

The use of digital technology is essential to tackle the major societal challenges we face right now: more homes, less use of raw materials and CO2 emissions, improved climate adaptation, promoting biodiversity, the growth of sustainable energy and the accelerated renewal of infrastructure. To meet these growing needs in a shrinking labour market, it is essential to increase productivity in the sector. In addition, it is necessary to increase integrity across the sector. The complex societal issues we are dealing with require integrated solutions at all scale levels and across all sectors. That is possible with digital technology.

A joint approach at the intersection of substantive domain expertise and digital technology is crucial in this context. Otto is a conceptual thinker, entrepreneur and connector, and for years he has been committed to this new approach based on his experience. Both within Witteveen+Bos and beyond, in collaborative partnerships and in regional and national ecosystems (for digital innovation) in the design, construction and technical sector.

Since January 2023, he has been leading the PMC Digital Engineering Experiences, where he supports clients with independent and diverse teams to deliver digital transformations, develops digital services and helps drive digitalisation in projects at W+B. Outside Witteveen+Bos, Otto is, in his knowledge domain, chair of the Vereniging Infra Ontwerp and a board member at the Kivi branch for Transport and Mobility. And in the digital domain, he is one of the initiators of Stadscampus De Kien in Deventer, lead of the Digitalisation community with industry association NLingenieurs, and a member of the DigiTeam at DigiGo.
