Sjoerd van der Smissen

Sjoerd van der Smissen is a Partner at Deloitte Consulting, where he leads the Government & Public Services sector in the Netherlands. He is driven by a deep-rooted desire to use his experience to inspire and guide the next generation of leaders and changemakers within these sectors. Especially in light of today’s societal challenges, he recognizes the growing importance of individuals and organizations that can drive meaningful and positive change.

With over two decades of experience, Sjoerd has contributed to a wide range of strategy, innovation, and transformation projects. His work has primarily focused on the Defense, Security & Justice sector, while also extending into the broader public sector. This breadth of experience has provided him with a strong understanding of how these domains operate and how to deliver impactful, sustainable change within them.

Despite his extensive experience, he remains strongly committed to innovation and transformation. In an ever-evolving society, he believes that the future is not only shaped by past achievements, but more importantly by the plans and actions taken today.

Academically, Sjoerd holds a PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. This background, combined with his professional experience, provides him with a distinctive perspective on his work and on how he supports organizations in their development.
