Residential communities for older people are often presented as a solution for the future housing and care needs of older residents. Are these residential communities simply a matter of bringing suitable homes together, or is there more to it? And what are the actual benefits of this form of living? If you really want to understand how it works, come to this session by Stichting Wel over Wonen in collaboration with Platform 31, Aanjaagteam WWZO and Altera.

Using experiences in the Netherlands in general and specifically the now several years old De Vroon (The Hague) as a case study, we will address the questions above. Bart Santhagens (Altera) and Diana Aten (community manager Stadkwadraat and Stichting WelOverWonen) will go into the De Vroon case in depth. Susan van Klaveren provides an overview of the situation across the country. Led by Heleen Stigter (Aanjaagteam WWZO), we will discuss the lessons learned so far in the development and maintenance of residential communities for older people.

Moderator: Heleen Stigter (Aanjaagteam Wonen Welzijn Zorg voor Ouderen)

Speakers:

  • Susan van Klaveren (Senior Project Manager Housing and Care, Platform 31)
  • Bart van Eibergen Sandhagens (Asset Manager Residential, Altera)

  • Diana Aten-Konkelaar (Advisor for collective living, Stichting WelOverWonen | Stadkwadraat)
