
Eelco Eerenberg
Alderman for Spatial Planning, Education, and Public Health Metropoolregio Utrecht

Eelco Eerenberg (D66) has been an alderman in Utrecht since December 19, 2019. He is responsible for the portfolios of Spatial Development, Education, and Public Health.
In addition, he is also responsible for the projects Rijnenburg and Groot Merwede (Merwedekanaalzone, Station Area, Westraven, and A12 zone). Furthermore, he is the district alderman for the Leidsche Rijn neighborhood. Eerenberg is also a member of the VNG committee for Care, Youth, and Education.
Eerenberg started his political career in Enschede, where he also studied. There, he was a D66 faction representative and a duo councilor before becoming a councilor in 2010. Besides politics, he worked as a talent scout and later as a strategy advisor. In 2014, he was appointed as an alderman in Enschede. In 2019, he made the move to Utrecht, where he became responsible, among other things, for the restoration of our city icon.
