Lisette Nijs

Lisette Nijs has been the Director of Area Development and Projects at the Municipality of The Hague since May 1, 2021. In this role, she leads the implementation of The Hague's spatial, area-specific challenges and projects in the physical domain. She is responsible at the executive level for area developments such as the Central Innovation District and Binckhorst. As Director of Urban Development Projects, she strives to strengthen The Hague. This involves not only creating enough (affordable) housing but also providing suitable amenities and sufficient employment opportunities for all layers of the population, ideally close to home and easily accessible by bike, car-sharing, or public transport. Many plans concerning housing and work are concentrated in the Central Innovation District, which surrounds The Hague Central Station, Holland Spoor, and Laan van NOI. Additionally, the business park 'De Binckhorst' is being transformed into a vibrant living and working area.
