Ludo Steenmetser has extensive experience in The Hague. "Working on solutions for social issues has always been a major motivation for me to choose public administration," he says. As an economist, he initially held various financial positions within the Municipality of The Hague. Between 2004 and 2015, he was responsible as director for revising social services in The Hague, implementing the Social Support Act and Youth Care. During that period, he served as chairman of the national social domain network. Since 2015, he has been Director of Existing City & Housing at the Urban Development Service. In addition to permitting and enforcement, he is responsible for housing policy in The Hague. Addressing social issues and building enough affordable homes are key priorities in tackling the housing market. Additionally, Ludo Steenmetser is chairman of the National Network of Environmental Law Managers (NMO).
