Jan Bruil
Head of Dutch Real Estate Development and Construction Bouwinvest Real Estate Investors

Jan Bruil studied architecture at TU Delft and then completed a Master of Real Estate in Amsterdam. After working at Amvest, ING RED, he joined Bouwinvest Real Estate Investors B.V. in Amsterdam.
Bouwinvest is an internationally operating real estate asset manager with the ambition to add value sustainably. Bouwinvest invests for and on behalf of pension funds for the long term and seeks stable returns.
Bouwinvest manages a diversified portfolio of three international mandates and five Dutch sector funds. The total assets under management currently amount to approximately €15 billion.
Within Bouwinvest, Jan Bruil, together with a team of 20 people, is responsible for the development and realization portfolio of the Dutch sector funds: Residential, Offices, Retail, Hotel, and Healthcare.
A beautiful example of transformation is Bouwinvest's redevelopment of the former Citroën buildings in Amsterdam. This redevelopment involves not only buildings but also an entire area around the Olympic Stadium where Bouwinvest owns significant property.
The challenge is to align interests, including those of institutional capital. For us, social return and financial return come together nicely here. By investing in the experiential and user value of the location (both building and area), we invest in the future value of the city as well as the stability of our investments.
Ultimately, we want our residents and users to be satisfied now and in the future. There is a shared interest here, including with municipalities and housing associations. We are also happy to be involved early in the transformation process so that we can collaboratively optimize value creation.
