
Jeroen de Willigen
Chairman of BNA & Urban Planner

Jeroen de Willigen is the Chairman of the Dutch Architects Association. He is an urban planner and partner at the architecture firm De Zwarte Hond. He trained at Delft University of Technology and graduated in 2015 as a Master City Developer from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
He started his career at West 8, then founded the urban planning department at De Zwarte Hond. In 2001, he became a partner there and, since 2011, its director. De Willigen is responsible for numerous urban planning projects at De Zwarte Hond, such as: The Blue City in Oldambt, Groeseind and the Zeehelden and Innovators Neighborhoods in Tilburg, De Florijn and the Station Area in Assen, the Grunobuurt in Groningen, and Heart of the Waalsprong in Nijmegen. Additionally, he acts as a supervisor in various area developments. He applies his design craftsmanship to solve current social and economic issues.
Between 2008 and 2012, De Willigen was the coordinator of urban planning at the Academy of Architecture in Rotterdam and a lecturer in Groningen and Delft. From 2016 to 2020, Jeroen served as the city architect of Groningen.
