How do you develop healthy, future-proof neighbourhoods at the nodes of the Netherlands? During this session, we delve into the world of station locations—places where mobility, urban dynamics and societal challenges come together. Ballast Nedam Development is currently working simultaneously on around eight station locations in the Netherlands, actively shaping the future of living and living around the railway line.

Together with NS, we explore how these places can grow into vibrant, healthy and sustainable city entrances. What does it take to build on these complex sites? And how do you combine accessibility, densification and quality of life into a future-proof neighbourhood?

From Utrecht to Maastricht and from Hoorn to Ravenstein: station areas are the places where new residential environments are created and where the connection between city and region becomes tangible. Through intensive collaboration with partners such as NS and other infrastructure players, these areas take shape as inclusive neighbourhoods, where mobility and quality of life reinforce each other.

This session shows how Ballast Nedam Development scales up this challenge: from individual projects to a broader vision for healthy area development around stations. An inspiring story about collaboration, innovation and building the mobility hubs of tomorrow.
