Lessons from projects in the United Kingdom and Ireland and what it means for Dutch developers and investors

The Netherlands faces an increasingly complex challenge in the built environment. Grid congestion, nitrogen emissions and tightened sustainability requirements are putting project development under pressure and calling for different ways of designing and building. The question is not only how we stay within these parameters, but above all how we can turn them into opportunities to build smarter and more future-proof.

In this session, BAM and AM will show how passive building can be a promising solution direction. Based on the conviction that building according to passive principles can help address energy and sustainability issues, we share practical experience from the United Kingdom and Ireland. There, several projects have been delivered that, during operation, demonstrably use almost half the energy and score highly on comfort and broad sustainability performance. Together, we explore what passive building could mean in the Dutch context, where the opportunities lie and what steps are needed to take this further in practice.
