In the world of sustainable buildings, the picture on paper often looks convincing, but performance in practice can fall short. Commissioning plays a crucial role in bridging that gap. By testing, balancing and verifying installations, commissioning ensures that buildings actually meet the intended energy performance. This is essential, as Paris Proof steering takes place based on genuinely measured energy use (WEii), not on design calculations.

Independent commissioning increases transparency and quality in the process and helps prevent errors. This remains just as relevant after handover: through recommissioning, buildings can continue to perform as intended.

In this session, the focus is on how commissioning contributes to buildings that are not only well designed, but also demonstrably perform.
